@shellydoesdiy: HERE👇🏽 The faux-wood Pottery Barn-inspired look is so popular right now. It is not hard to do with a little practice and it does NOT have to be done on solid wood. So grab that old piece of IKEA furniture you were finally going to get rid of and give it a try! 1. Sand with 120/150 grit than 220 2. Prime 3. Scuff sand with 220 grit sanding sponge 4. Paint: this is Alpaca Blanket (Behr) but you can use any light tan or dark creamy color (the darker the base, the darker the finish). 5. Paint on thin layer of glaze in small section using chip brush (I used java brown by rust-oleum but it’s sold out in a lot of places. I linked another glaze I’ve used that works just as well.) 6. While the glaze is wet, brush back with a deck brush to smooth, followed by a broom. (I’ve started using the little blue broom more than the large one in the video.) 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you get the look you’re going for 8. Drill hardware holes 9. Brush on top coat All the supplies are linked in my Amazon store (in my bio). Links earn commission. I learned this technique from @Shannon so go check her out! #fauxwood #potterybarndupe #nightstandmakeover
The first step would be procuring matching nightstands 😂 why does no one ever seem to sell 2.

Do you feel like the bottom color makes a difference? I used rugged tan and I’m not sure if it came out dark because of the base or how I brushed on the glaze 🤔
