I keep mine in the dark. As long as they contain alcohol, they could last decades. Some of mine are over 20 and still smell good.

They can last a lifetime if you keep them out of the sunlight and in a room that has no humidity. 😊

I kind of disagree with you about the whole expiration date thing. I have fragrances from the 90s & that are still good. They still smell exactly the same and they performed the same. 🤷♀️
