Pi is the better constant once you start moving out of simple geometry. Like anything to do with waves, if you used tau you'd have 0.5s everywhere.

the thing is with this argument, what’s stopping us from just… using both normally? both tau AND pi have accepted standard values so what’s the issue with using them interchangeably when needed?

The problem is finding the center of a circle. So to get thr radius most folks would measure the diameter and divide by 2 to get the radius.

2pi occurs so often in physics and engineering. if tau was normalised it would save many pen strokes
