@thatgoodnewsgirl: You can have your own tree friend by emailing individual trees in Australia! 🌳 The program was originally started so that residents could email the city of Melbourne about a specific tree if it was damaged or sick. 🌲 But people both within and outside of Melbourne started writing personal notes to the trees instead. The city embraced this as a way to spread awareness of the importance of trees in urban settings and as a way for people all over to connect with nature.
