Some say that using the ‘clinical’ blue colour instead of red is in itself problematic - feeding into that stigma around periods being ‘dirty’... But there’s something else going on. Period products aren’t actually tested using real bl00d. And that’s a problem, because it means the absorbency labels we see on things like tampon packets aren’t quite accurate.
