@mrmoneyjar: When it comes to index funds do you invest in the S&P 500? Or globally? @Damien Talks Money explains why he invests globally 🌍 #themrmoneyjarshow #investing #indexfunds #sp500 #mrmoneyjar #damientalksmoney
So many with no financial background recommend the S&P500 on here (without taking the personal circumstance into account) 😭 Agree global better.

People forget that 98% of the S&P 500 return in the last year or so has been driven by 7 tech stocks. It’s actually a very big bet on tech

As Buffet says, put all your eggs in one basket and watch the basket. The market doesn’t tend to drop 20% in a day. Have clear exit rules

I agree that diversification is important. But “recency bias” means nothing here. The S&P500 has been tracked for over 50 years.

Yes but most returns in the US / world will now continue to be driven by a handful of ‘tech stocks’ these are all concentrated in the US

same for me, the US and $ relevance is declining. This is especially true for RE investments, forget investing the US or UK RE markets

S&P has 11% average gains over the last 40 years. With an average of 8% going all the way back to when it incepted. Not really much of a recencie bias.

60% of global index is US anyway. So yes you might lose a bit less on a downturn, but that saving is wiped out by the gains you miss out on.

Because the US economy is set up for capitalism to rule. Tech and AI developments mean they will continue to rule. Global is going to keep you poor.
