I ran into the same issue in high school (at 1st). I did math in my head & they thought I was cheating. I proved them wrong. 🤣

They want you to use their formula. Not just show your work. I lost points getting them all right and showing my work. I don't use their formula.

yeah I always hated this about math, I did show my work. I read the question, my brain told me the answer and I wrote it down. never had to work out the answer when I was a kid.
