@yycinspectormarty: Homes are getting faster and faster. Carpenters are dissapearing and being replaced with installers. Its going to ne interesting to see how it turns out. #speed #newhome #framing #carpenter #newbuild #newconstruction #tradesman #homeinspection #nookcrannyhomeinspections #calgaryhomeinspector #yychomeinspector #newhomeconstruction #albertahomeinspector
I’m a carpenter on the east coast, worked in Alberta for a decade. I get from a business standpoint, but it’s sad to see craftsmanship disappear.

Lol, Edmonton has had prefabbing for quite awhile, in 2013 myself and 1 guy framed a 7 plex in 6 weeks, a prefab crew took 11 weeks🤣🤣

I recall working in a home in the 90s. 55days foundation to completion. There wasn’t a qualified trade shortage at the time.

There’s a prefab company in Edmonton. They start assembling on site in the morning, and by 5:00 the roof is on, windows installed. Spend an additional day backframing and then the other trades start.

Well… the are 85% prefabricated. So, you have to account for the time of the fab for that in the “week”.

Pre fab is a bad trend the quality just totally goes out the window from what I’ve seen it ain’t worth it with all the fixing that’s needed

I would love to see a review on a mobile home,(aka trailer). I used to churn out 3 a day in the siding side. Meaning they built 3 per day.
