If they ban the hot water they'll just use something else, so no point taking that off them. Trust is needed.

i work as a PO and got hot water thrown over me when escorting a prisoner back to his cell!!

They should have access to a boiler in a shared monitered location instead. No hot drinks when they are in the cell.

what do they need boiling water for though? a cuppa is a luxury not a necessity same as sugar

A guy did exactly that with boiwater and sugar to a colleague when I worked in forensic rehabilitation

They should only be allowed hot drinks with meals or from canteen otherwise should be cold drinks only. How is hot water a right 😂

boiling water actually isn't a human right, as long as they have access to warm/hot water (the temperature below what actually would burn a person)

Surely that needs to be assessed, give them a unit where they are supervised with having a hot water station to make tea/ food etc. not in a cell where they could do this 😳
