@loveletters_home: IKEA built-ins hack from start to alllmosst finish! FAQ We used Havsta cabinets for lowers and Billie bookcases for uppers. This allowed the shelves to go to the ceiling (we have 9ft. ceilings so we had to cut them down a bit). Next we added a connecting shelf with plywood and lattice trim. After caulking and using spackle to fill the millions of holes, we sanded and primed the cabinets for paint. I love this moody green paint! (1905 Green by Magnolia Home) we’ve color drenched the whole room and I’ll be sharing more on that soon! IMPORTANT Last thing to do is the seal the cabinets so the paint doesn’t chip! #ikeahack #DIY #homeimprovement #homeimprovementprojects

How do the havsta cabinets feel after being built in? They feel so cheap at the store I can’t get passed it

Are the bottom of the Billy shelves attached to the havsta cabinets? I was thinking of doing the same since I wanted more height

Plugging the holes up is the key to making them look a level up! ❤️

What is the advantage of doing this over just building them? Not having to buy/use a saw? It’s not net any less labor this way with all the hole filling.

Does the width fit perfectly wall to wall? Or did you have to fill the sides in with extra wood panels

Did the Billys lose stability when you cut them down? We also have 9 ft ceilings and are considering doing the same thing

This looks amazing. I love the color choice as well. I might have missed it but it there a backing on the shelves, if not if you did it again, would you paint the wall first?

Did you glue or nail the bookshelves to the wall so they wouldn’t fall over?

This is amazing! For the bookcase did you just not add the bottom? Or what do you mean buy uppers?
