Apple Pay exists in Japan, the problem is they don’t call it this way. Don’t ask a cashier is they accept Apple Pay, instead you say Visa Touch, or “tacchi de” in Japanese.

I would use my Apple Pay to reload the Suica in my Apple Wallet for places that didn’t accept tap/touch, but they’d accept the tap of a digital Suica

I’m staying in Asakusa right now and it’s so convenient. Train like direct from Narita airport. Direct access to Asakusa & Ginza line.

Shibuya is really expensive but good to stay at. Because of the tourists Kyoto felt very overhyped to me.

Highly recommend ordering a foldable duffle bag on Amazon for extra stuff! This way you don’t have to carry another luggage around!

I’m always confused about the no card thing because I’ve been multiple times - rarely encountered places that don’t accept cards (usually food stalls) 😅 even in quiet non-touristy places!

We stayed at prince hotel in shinjuku and I loved it. Convenience was superb IMO but definitely based on your individual needs.
