So if you went back to the 13 month calendar of 28 days in each month, this problem would go away

If that was true, which it's not. Where does the extra time get stored till it makes up a full day?

A day is actually 23.262222 hours long. We round to 24. It takes 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 56 seconds for the earth to orbit the sun

it's actually a little less than a full day so every 100 years we skip a leap year to be more accurate

if that was true then we would have daylight at the wrong time eventually....but it takes 365 and 1/4 days to go around the Sun. it's orbit not hours.

so that is not what I was taught in school. I was taught that actually takes 365.25 days for the earth to circle the sun.

If that were true, the time would never consistently match up. 2 years in, noon would be as dark as midnight. Leap year is because the year is 365 1/4 days.
