@stephanne221: Replying to @Ashley Shaw sorry I took so long to answer! Lost this in my drafts 🥴 The way a parent responds to a child’s need, whether that is over -responding or under-responding, is influenced by how that parent manages the emotions that that child triggers for them. How people manage their emotions can be reflected by their attachment styles. A parent with an anxious attachment style is more prone to attach to what they see as the “problem” so that they can fix it, however, a parent with an avoidant attachment style may be more prone to avoid what is bringing them the most uncomfortable emotions, such as a child with needs they don’t know how to “fix.” this then sets the parent up to have different empathic blocks with each child, which will then intern create different ways the child expresses their needs by intensifying or minimizing. All the while the child is not having their needs fully met. To be clear, these instances call for more parental support (and not a time to shame parents) so that they can better align with their child’s needs. #depressionanxiety #mentalillness #mentalhealthmatters #socialanxiety #bpdtiktok #mentalheath #childhoodtrauma #menthalhealthmatters #traumahealing #therapytiktok #mentalhealthtiktok #peoplepleaser #ptsd #traumatok #depressedtiktok #family #childhoodtrauma #therapist #therapistsontiktok #relationships #narcissist #fyp #foryou

Explains so much. My mom had 5 children and each was treated differently working. This did not work out well. Part of the reason I just had 1.

Can you show some positive examples of how to parent children who match with oldest, middle, and youngest child personality traits?

Both of my parents got offered individual support by my psychologist. They refused, stating they're fine and they don't need it. Literally a week later my mom abuses me and tells me that I'm not 1/2

So true! I try to create a balance for my kids every day that I didn't see in my childhood or as a nurse working with families. It's a nonstop struggle for middle-ground
