Dubrovnik was my favorite city in Croatia. I went during super busy time mid July ‘23 & still had a great experience. We got up early to avoid crowds but it was still not that bad later in the day.

Dubrovnik was STUNNING. Not too busy, gorgeous food and views, so much history and lovely people. We visited end of August / beginning of September.

Or just go to Dubrovnik in the shoulder seasons. I went in may and it wasn’t too crowded. Super expensive though

Go in the off seasons, also I would highly recommend a car. Easier to visit the small towns/villages and sometimes the buses are so packed you miss like 3 because they won’t let you on.

you're completely right with the first point, as a local in Dubrovnik it kind of becomes unlivable due to the overwhelming number of tourists (who outnumber us 8:1 in the old town)

Please do not skip Dubrovnik!! I went late April and so not as busy. Stay in Old town and buy the dubrovnik pass you can use buses for free to go other area.
