Absolutely do not read past book three unless you wanna get WEIRD. Personally, love it. Deep lore, high sci-fi. It’s not for everyone

@Andye.Reads :
I loved part one of Dune so much that I came home and read the first half of the book. But I saved the second half of the book so it doesn't ruin the movie for me 😂😂😂

Pretty much checked out when Leto turned into a worm. The 200th ghoula of a certain someone didn't help either.

I recommend the House books. The prequel series by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson. And the Legends of Dune series 10k years in the past. Enjoyable reads and a lot of background.

Stay Curious My Friends :
The first book is to sci-fi what LOTR is to fantasy. But both required several attempts to finally get through them.

God Emperor is such a chore to read. Leto II is insufferable & Duncan #whatever pretty much sucks lmao.

God Emperor was a slog and I made it maybe 50 pages into Heretics before I gave myself permission to quit

God Emperor of Dune was my favorite book of the series, totally agree about the “palate cleanser” comment

Agreed. Dune got five starts for me. I actually like Messiah a little better the second time, but not much. I could have not read the rest and been fine with my life.

Only ever read Dune. It’s so influential in other books. But yeah, I didn’t feel the need to keep going.

Totally agree. I first read Dune in the early 80s, got thru the first 3, DNF'd the fourth. That was it for me.

I am curious about the second trilogy- I’ve read the first three. A friend said he liked all the philosophy.
