What i still havent heard anyone talk about is what if you had emotionally overbearing parents that u rejected since day 1? I fought them like hell and dont listen to anyone now even if i should.

It makes sense because the controlling/messy parent benefits from the child never developing self-trust. it would weaken their position.

ouf 100%. I made a big decision for myself at 18yr old that I was going to go with my best friend to New Zealand to work and travel during a gap year after high school. My mom convinced herself it was unsafe and that the travel company i was using to get everything in order was a "scam". One day they called and my mom answered and she told the lady how paranoid she was of them and that I wasnt going🤦🏼♀️. I still went though.
