the entire point of a 401k is to put in pre tax dollars and pay taxes later since you will likely be in a lower tax bracket

I’m perfectly fine with that. I have $20k in my Roth 401k the govt can’t touch. The remaining 1.08M is in traditional. 😂

Yes, but it’s been compounding all these years with no taxes paid. A regular mutual fund held out of retirement you will pay yearly taxes on capital gains, dividends, etc.. take dispersements wisely
