I think the main issue was potty training, needed someone to take him out every 2 hrs as a puppy and we didn’t have anyone trusted enough to help

I have a spare room for my puppy, do you think she’ll be okay with 4-6 hours alone?

I got so much hate as a nurse working 12s at the hospital when I got my dog.. she’s fine and we’ve made it work between rover and working night shifts etc

I’d say taking the first week off is helpful for puppy raising. I had my puppy potty trained in 4 days, and after that first week it was way easier to manage her while I was working

yes dogs need to learn to be alone, but puppies are infants and need frequent potty breaks and interaction

Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer here! I think it’s great to plan for ensuring your dog has company in their first few weeks, so we CAN teach them to be alone w/ the right supports in place.

8 hrs + alone is too much for a brand new puppy. Before the pandemic owners staggered their work hours- one partner leaves at 10 am other home at 3 pm

YES THANK YOU. So hard to even get a rescue to work with because of this bias against people who work full time.

This is the best video I have seen so far. Cried yesterday as it was my first day back to work after getting my new puppy and being with him for 5 days.

I work from home and I felt like I had 2 full time jobs when we got our puppy 😅 we do have a crate schedule (more relaxed now that he’s older) but the crate was the life saver when I needed a break!!

would you recommend the covered crate you posted for leaving the puppy while I’m at work?

I work from home and I even need the dog in his own space so I can work. I wish I could get paid to play with him all day though
