No need to compute the complete factorials . If the numbers are large enough, you will have issues computing them.

just say 3! = a and then it’s (a + 4a)/20a = 5/20 = 1/4

Factor 3! Out of numerator and denominator and you’re left with (1+4)/(5*4) = 5/(5*4) = 1/4

can't you just take the 3 factorial out from the top and bottom?

JFS :
You can also factor out the 3! From numerator and get 3!(1+4). Then denominator is 5(4)(3!) and the 3! And the 5 cancel leaving 1/4

Why does math have to be like this??!!!!

Austin :
It would be easier to factor (3x2x1) from each numerator and denominator and cancel them out. You’d get (4+1)/(5*4). Simplify that and you get 5/20 or 1/4. No need for multiplying out each factorial.

The question shouldn't be "Is this even math?" It should be "Who even uses this math?" I'm sure specific career types do, but not the majority.
