Good wedding photographers have a clays thing on contracts that they won’t do stuff unrelated directly to the wedding. Like family photos. (Unless it’s the group wedding family photo of course)

As a photographer I would do whatever the bride and groom want. Unless I have verbal confirmation from the bride and groom themselves I’m not doing any side shoots. Could be a breach of contract

This is why I have a hard copy of the formal photo list from the bride. When they try to have side photos, I point to the list and continue with the plan of the person I m contracted with.

not tricky.. photographer have time lines and work for the bride and groom.. i have had people ask me for photos during a wedding like that and I communicate with the bride and groom

I asked a friend photographer and he said he would have told her sure and then give a price for the separate photo shoot. photographer was wrong and would have had to refund for the photos not taken.
