could you not have taken from top and bottom ? probably would have ended with the two large squares and had to fill some hardware holes.

The previos reveal and fit was much better. Look at the bottom gap on the old door and then your new door.

the better option would have been a flat panel door, push latch, corner bead instead of trim and same color as the wall

Should’ve only really change the door handle to a cabinet handle. The new door and trim bring so much attention to something so weird.
