The unit will likely not be sitting empty for 2 months. Once you submit your notice to vacate, your unit goes on the market. So everyone with your same move out timeframe will be doing the same.

most apartment complexes list units to rent as soon as they get a notice - so you can definitely sign with another apartment asap. also, 60 days is +

We’ve been wanting to move from our current house for years. We can’t because of that rule. Nobody will hold a rental for 2 months and we can’t pay double rent for 2 months. It’s RIDICULOUS
