@loren_legarda: In 2016, Yakan master weaver Ambalang Ausalin was conferred the title Manlilikha ng Bayan for her commitment to safeguarding and promoting the Yakan tennun (tapestry weaving) tradition. Apuh Ambalang’s skill was deemed incomparable, bringing forth all designs and actualizing all textile categories typical to the Yakan. To ensure the continuity of this skill and tradition, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) established the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan Cultural Center in Honor of MB Ambalang Ausalin in her hometown at Parangbasak, Lamitan, Basilan in 2019. Considered the finest in all of Basilan and among the Yakans, the tennun produced by the Parangbasak weavers may be purchased at the Center.
