@coach_mundy_: The objective to “feel something” is an insanely overrated theme in the fitness community. It’s the idea that if you feel the muscle, you’re probably working.. which can actually turn out to be false due to a plethora of reasons. - Need a pump? So chasing metabolic stress? Metabolite accumulation leads to increased Supraspinal CNS fatigue which increases your perceived effort levels, so motor unit recruitment has to drop in return. If mechanical tension is understood, there’s literally no argument. You can have metabolic stress through blood flow restriction at rest… - Muscle damage/inflammation? More CNS fatigue. So your hypertrophy stimulus again, drops like it would with metabolic stress. Dealing with muscle damage for weeks into months? Good luck building any kind of significant muscle during your plateau. Your body steady trying to recover yet you keep beating it up. MyoPS continually going towards repair instead of more towards hypertrophy. - Mind-to-muscle connection? Overrated. Just bc you feel that muscle, doesn’t mean you’re doing any significant work. Forcing that time under tension (more than 3-4 secs) or again getting a quick pump has nothing to do with the force/velocity relationship. Just simply increasing perceived effort levels. - If the goal is to build muscle, high force productions (greater degrees of cross bridging between actin and myosin), and ~involuntarily~ slower contraction velocities are what cause the biological processes of hypertrophy to start off. Mechanical tension, again is your answer. Nothing more, nothing less #gym #Fitness #bodybuilding #GymTok #fyp

With the muscle damage and Not relating to hypertrophy I get it because DOMS has no relation to hypertrophy but isn’t the beginning stimulation micro cellular muscle damage that causes hypertrophy

AvgGymBro :
I have read literature on mental cues having positive outcomes in regards to motor unit recruitment which could augment cross bridging— can’t hurt

maybe i just have bad reading comprehension but could you simplify what exactly causes mechanical tension while working out?
