Last minute campsite hack that will help you book popular otherwise “Full” Campgrounds. ⛺️ Camping in California can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare even more when it comes to a spontaneous getaway. California Campground Reservations usually require a 6 month in advance booking 😠 Such a headache with the spontaneity kicks in and you want nay NEED a nature reboot. But this lil hack has helped us countless times and recently landed us a stay at the very popular, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park!🌲 So remember when I said that reservations are booked up to 6 months in advance, well plans tend to change in that timeframe but people tend to keep there reservation as is. Whenever we see a “Full Campground” sign we always check the campground for ourselves and here’s what you need to look for when you see an empty space. The Check In & Check Out Date!! 👀 If you arrive before the check in/ check out booth is closed asked if anyone checked out early or cancelled last minute. No ranger no problem, drive around looking for empty campsites. If you see that a campsite is completely empty with a check in registration card marked for two+ days before and a check out date for the next day or two, the chances are that camper either never came, had to leave early or didn’t change there existing reservation dates. We never stay at campsites marked with just a one to two night stay. Chances are they might be running behind and you’ll be kicked out. If you’re lucky enough to snag a spot make sure to register and pay your fee! If you want to make sure the space is available don’t be shy to ask the camp host. 🏕️ This hack usually works really well for just one to two night stays and of course it’s not always guaranteed but try your luck, it has almost always worked for us! ☀️We’ve never needed to try this outside of California but let me know in the comments if you used this trick before in or out of California! #camping #campinghacks #campingtipsandtricks #campingtips #californiacamping #californiacampgrounds
