The hitting/patting of the stump can help the brain adjust to the missing limb and stop phantom pain. It doesn’t get rid of it but can help.

For elective amputation in the uk do you have to pay for prosthetics. I have suffered chronic knee pain for years and am seriously considering doing it.

For the tmr procedure, they put your nerve ending in muscle so the nerves have somewhere to send the signals to so your brain isn’t freaking out causing the phantom pain

I can seriously contest to below the knee is way easier then above the knee considering I’ve been both. Using a leg as below the knee is also A LOT EASIER

I’m a BKA and I can see how it is probably easier. I wish someone would’ve told me to seek physical therapy. I have no cartilage around my knee now

The desensitizing thing makes so much sense to me because it took me over 10 years to be able to put my back against something hard after scoliosis surgery
