I grew up in the southern United States and it’s a common colloquialism to, when speaking of future events to add “if the good Lord is willing, and the creek don’t rise.”

I always wanted to learn Latin in school, but they only let those who were in the top set of French classes take Latin, and that wasn't me. this has inspired me to try though. Never to old, right?

I learned Latin in school. It certainly helped with learning modern languages like French, Spanish, even English to an extent. Beyond that, I’ve forgotten so much that I can barely read simple texts
