I like the one where Peter Pan is the Angel of Death for children. He guides kids' spirits on their journey to the afterlife (or "Neverland"). That's why the kids never age - all those kids were dead.

It's not even a theory it's literally just facts. In the original story Peter would often "thin out" the kid who grew up. Hook and the pirates were once his lost boys who grew up.
