@backyardecor: P e r g o l a D e s i g n T i p s ————— I get so many questions about the pergola too many to answer sometimes so here’s my top tips to consider when designing a pergola to suit your needs - Measure and mark it out first to fit your space making sure the size is sufficient. We wanted a space large enough for separate lounge and bar/dining space. It’s roughly 3.5 metres by 8 metres - Consider the weather in your garden. A solid roof offered us shade in our South facing garden and shelter for soft furnishings so we can still sit out on rainy days - A sheet rubber roof is completely water proof and low maintenance, we have a slight pitch on the roof into hidden guttering at the back which stops drips - Roof batons are a great cost effective way to create slatting we screwed them in so we can remove easily for maintenance - Different combinations of mood lighting. We have hardwired lighting, the latest above bar lighting from @therangeuk was a great way to create feature lighting using 3 weatherproof outdoor lanterns - Consider the type of heating, we had a stove installed with a flue so we could enjoy the atmosphere of real fire experience without being smoked out and have additional gas fires for quick easy heat - Invest in good high quality furniture that will last you for many years. My choices are all weather resistant so they can be left outside all year round - Finally expect to maintain your wooden pergola painting once every 2 years to keep the wood protected and looking fresh #pergola #pergolas #gardenbar #outdoorliving #gardenfurniture #gardeninspo #backyard #backyarddesign #gardenlover #moderngarden #firepit #patiodesign #summergarden #gardenlighting #gardendesign #gardenpatio #gardendesignideas
