So did the crank crack because of the out of round journals or from the initial incident that made them replace the girdle

I found a old sbc that was said to have over a half a million miles on it but rebuilt twice partially one of the main caps was clearly from another engine and it had a staggard bearing in it

Ford and Peugeot camshaft carriers are the same. You can’t mismatch them.
