We started with an out-of-the-box coop, which was ok for a handful of years until it collapsed. When we were forced to reinvest in another coop and run, we knew we didn’t want to do it all over again in a few years. So, we decided to tackle building a sturdy, predator proof, forever coop ourselves! It wasn’t easy — we’re not builders by profession — and we didn’t have any building plans, although we really wish we did! Needless to say, we learned a lot about building that year. I started sharing our excitement with friends and folks started asking for building plans. Since I knew how difficult it was for us to build this coop *without* the plans, I knew this was an opportunity to help folks on their own chicken keeping and coop building journey. So here we are!
