@mama_nurse_tina: Replying to @Nicole Mazzoni Here’s a video about open glottis pushing! It’s important to note that this is a great way to push for the long haul when you’re giving birth but it’s not always the best in every scenario - sometimes your provider is going to need you to push with everything you have to get baby out faster for health reasons (either yours or babies) But This is the way I recommend practicing but there’s different ways you can achieve childbirth prep in the area of breathing and birth! #birthtok #pregnanttiktok #laboranddelivery #birthprep #birthtips #expectingmom

This video is excellent…I just wish more nurses understood this! They are, forever, using the “hold your breathe” version…

I was trying to breathe through my pushes and I practiced before birth. But when I was actually pushing they told me to hold me breath 😭

This was my plan while pushing on hands and knees since I had an epidural but my doctor/nurses refused to let me do either. Had me hold my breath and push on my back 😭

I was a choir and band kid, my brain goes ‘pretend you’re playing a loooong note’ (I played bass clarinet which had a lot of those)

All I had to do was slowly breathe out and my body was pushing my son out on its own 😅 I literally had no control over it…still got a mild tear.

Definitly think pushing the wrong way made my labor last forever and lead to a traumatic delivery. Wish one of my nurses would have had me try this!

I got so mad when I was in labor because the nurses were getting mad at me for not holding my breath and for making noise but I couldn’t not make noise and I didn’t have enough lung capacity
