I have walked through almost all the builds in my neighborhood and not once have I seen an expansion tank. Are there only certain conditions where it is needed?

Hack way to install the expansion tank. Also it’s in a basement I doubt it’ll cause thousands of dollars of damage, they don’t blow up they leak

rigid copper will hold the expansion tank like that, it won't be an issue. lots of rookies here.
