I would agree that Stan Lee did not intend to make the X-Men but Chris Claremont certainly did so I guess that makes it since 1979 or 80 that’s long enough

yeah something I think people don't understand is that Stanley set the bedrock that others built upon that doesn't dismiss the importance of the bedrock but you don't need to overstate it ether

Stan did not make the X-Men woke. And his version basically failed. Sales, as far as I've been able to find put, didn't kick up until after the team changed.
