@tonymormino: Grains of moisture refer to a unit of measurement for humidity, specifically the absolute humidity in the air. In our industry we talk in terms of grains when controlling and measuring humidity in critical applications like surgery suites, labs, sensitive archival storage, pharmaceutical manufacturing, battery manufacturing, and the like. This measurement is based on the weight of water vapor present in a given volume of air. One grain of moisture equals approximately 1/7000th of a pound of water vapor. The term is used in many industries including HVAC. We often use the term humidity ratio which is the grains of moisture per lb of dry air. By quantifying the amount of moisture in the air in grains, we can more accurately adjust systems to achieve the desired humidity level, impacting comfort, health, and various processes sensitive to moisture levels. #hvac #hvactechnician #hvaclife #hvactech #hvacmaintenance
