@televisionofnomads: The call to prayer started in this video PRECISELY when we started recording. Literally a beautiful, gobsmacking coincidence from the universe. Ramadan is a powerful time to visit the Middle East—so many people discourage traveling during this time because it can make it harder to travel in some ways, with many places closing for the holiday. But what you get in exchange makes it profoundly worth it. The generosity and warmth, the traditions, the celebrations, the melodic recitations echoing across the landscape, all gifting you such unique and authentic insight into the culture of the region. This is at a homestay in Giza, Egypt that we paid $15/night to stay in, where we heard some of the most beautiful calls to prayer reverberating for hours in Giza overlooking the pyramids. It’s hard to explain the gravity and the enormity of hearing these beautiful calls meeting the pyramids of Giza rising on the horizon, but these prayers and the many, many others we heard throughout the month of Ramadan throughout the Middle East will forever be some of the most powerful, even magical moments we experienced, searing themselves into our consciousness. Particularly for Benny—they literally touch something deep in his soul. Few things move him to the point of tears: mountains are one, the call to prayer is another. #Ramadan #RamadanMubarak #egypttravel #visitegypt #calltoprayer #instaislam #ramadanprayers #egypttourism #myegypt #middleeasttravel #travelmiddleeast #visitegypt
