I work at Kroger and this only happens when we are understaffed due to call offs. The person who writes the schedule gets in trouble when lines are big so they wouldn’t understaff on purpose. Blame the lazy cashiers who call off for no reason. Because we are supposed to open up a register if we see the line sticks out just a little too far

Devon :
Understaffed, also it depends on time. Most people leave at 7. After that, there is really only 10 people IN THE STORE, front end mostly has 3-4 people after 8. So they close a U-Scan so they can do other stuff.

If your paying sky high prices you're not using their app and coupons. It's one of the best places to shop IMO!

Cashier at kroger…. 10000% agree. There’s NEVER enough cashiers/self check people. beyond that, weekends and such WE NEED BAGGERS

bdawg389 :
And at alot of kroger they have poorly trained armed guards to look through all your bags and check your receipts to make sure you scanned everything… aldi is a much more luxurious experience

Our Kroger has been awful for years until they opened an HEB in the same city. Now Kroger hired more people and have lots of checkout lanes open.

My Kroger is mostly self checkout. They usually have 1 or 2 registers w/ an employee, the rest are self checkout

Honestly my Sam’s club is completely self checkout with a U scan and everything. I think they’ll help you but it’s really easy

same exact deal at my local Kroger. hard to believe they think it's not worth it to schedule 2-3 more workers to dramatically improve the checkout experience

An Alright Scoop :
Kroger is still good for meat deals. But everything else I’m getting from Walmart. Also Costco is good for prepared frozen entrees
