I have been singing and listening to this song a lot lately. I’ve been going through an uncomfortable, transitional period, learning what and who to hold onto, what and who to let go of, encountering past wounds and triggers at every turn and finally working through them and learning so much about myself and how I show up in my life and other’s lives. Learning how to show up the way I want to show up, and learning how I want and need the people I choose to build relationships (friends, family, romantic) with to show up for me. Add a whole pile of other stuff to that, and frankly…. It’s been pretty dark in here. It really is hard to keep the light on sometimes. I know so many folks are just going through it right now. I have a little pocket-size flashlight with a nearly-dead battery, but I’m keeping it on. Just trying to make my way out of the dark. So, if your light won’t light, you can share mine. If anyone else has a crappy, unreliable flashlight, maybe they can join us, and we can all find our way out together. I can see the bright white halo of sunshine bursting through the edges of the doorframe, just ahead. We can get there. We will get there. One step at a time, feeling our way when our flashlights die.
