My 5 favorite hosting gifts to give👇 Why not wine? Unless you know your host enjoys alcohol, AND you know their specific wine preferences, your gift may end up being re-gifted or tucked away. While wine issss perfect for some hosts, it has become such a ubiquitous hosting gift, than it can feel impersonal, so I tend to prefer other options. Avoid bringing anything that needs immediate attention (arranging, plating, warming). The host is already managing a dozen moving pieces, and a gift that adds one more thing to their list can feel like a task. The best hosting gifts can be enjoyed after the event, a token of appreciation that requires no effort in the moment. Here are 5 of my favorites to give: 1. Quality olive oil or infusions Beautiful, unique, and indulgent. A gift that feels elevated and can be opened/enjoyed any time. 2. Flowers in a vase or a potted plant Don’t hand over a bouquet and expect your host to scramble for a vase. Pre-arranged flowers or a low-maintenance plant are thoughtful and instantly charming. Avoid high-pollen varieties, and consider that some plants aren’t appropriate for pet households. 3. Homemade breakfast cookies or granola A nod of appreciation that makes the next day feel easy and luxurious. 4. Homemade seasonal syrups Lavender in summer, pumpkin spice in autumn, peppermint in winter… A homemade syrup adds flavor to coffee, tea, or cocktails, and always feels personal. 5. beautifully wrapped Cookies or truffles Not meant for dessert that night, just a sweet little something for later. Presentation matters: wrap them in wax paper, ribbon, or a small tin to make them feel like a gift for the host, not a suggested addition to their table (unless they choose to serve them). The best hosting gifts don’t ask to be opened, poured, served, or fussed with. They simply say: Thank you. I see the effort you made, and I appreciated being part of it. #hosting #etiquette #guestetiquette
