@missclairebenjamin: 💡 Understanding the “volatile” one👇 🧠 When we don’t learn how to regulate our emotions growing up it can lead to us being very reactive and at times volatile. This can be very tricky for the people around us especially at work. ▶️ Understanding and managing our emotions is something we can learn. We can learn to pause so we don’t react impulsively. We can learn to respond calmly. ▶️ If you work with someone who can be volatile this video is not about placing the responsibility onto you. It is to provide insight into where it may stem from. You are not responsible for how they behave but know that at the root of someone who is reactive and volatile is usually fear. The more safety you can create in the working relationship the less frequently these behaviours are likely to present. ▶️ If you are their manager the more safety you create the easier it will be for you to raise their awareness around the impact of their volatile behaviour. Self- awareness is the first step to behaviour change. Emotional regulation is a skill set just like any skill we all have to start somewhere and that somewhere is different for everyone. ▶️ If the person is unwilling to recognise the impact of their behaviour then you will need to communicate your boundaries. 💬 Leave a 🙌 in the comments if this was helpful 📌 Please be mindful that the perspective offered in this video is generalised and won’t fit every situation so please follow your instincts about whether this applies to your situation. Loving the emotional maturity isn't linked to age and pause don't automatically react.
