@kaitlin_aria: Not even people in the paddock understand WHY F1 Academy is so popular compared to the W Series. I could talk about why both are amazing for hours, but I’m just so excited to watch the entire Academy series this year 💗 #f1 #formula1 #formulaone #f1academy #wseries #dts
I personally like F1A's emphasis on the drivers' future careers after they "graduate" from the series.

I like to catch a few races. This year at COTA before the F1 drivers came to speak at the auditorium everyone was watching academy and it was fun seeing everyone cheer for the girls

First, yes, they got the marketing right. Second, the races are easy to find and watch. Third, the race this weekend was just bonkers. Really enjoyed it

I mean them letting us view it definitely made a difference for me. Even if the cars are a step back I think the series is a big step forward for the goal.

also better car does not equal better racing. These are all talented drivers that are very early in their single seater careers and there's a lot more competition than even f1 has bc of that.

F1 Academy being free on YouTube is a huge win. Make things easy to watch and people will watch it.

Hi, they weren’t really modern f3 cars. They were equivalent to what we now call formula regional cars which gets confusing because it used to be called regional f3, they are decently slower than f3

I think 99% percent can be put down to it being much closer linked with F1

accessibility too is huge. a big reason PWHL is popular is that you literally can watch it without trying... right there on YouTube

There’s another aspect that academy is a younger series. Frankly almost all the W series drivers were deep enough in their careers there wasn’t much hope they’d advance higher, but Academy is 1/

Every sponsor of an F1 team should have to pay a small extra percentage to also support F1 Academy. The cars with more logos look awesome, no reason they can’t all look like that

Because f1 own it. W series was privately owned and funded. F1 could have saved it and turned it into f1A, but it was cheaper to let it die and recreate a worse series.

Susie Wolff being the MD is massive too - she holds serious power in the paddock.

I just think that the F1 academy girls are more charismatic and fun to watch on and off grid. I follow Dorianne and the Qubaisi sisters because it’s fun to watch them grow like I watched Hamilton grow

Never miss raceday. :
I still don’t understand why the decision to not televise it last year was made, especially with the momentum it already had. Good to see it is now though!

it's about exposure and awareness. for gender inclusion to catch up it needs this extra effort.
