This is the best way to do it. Nail gun rough as toast and pins not substantial enough. Good job as usual 👍

Screws ftw, always. Can also be removed. To replace a damaged panel.

Agree that first fix nails are too harsh, 14 gauge pins however rather than the standard 16 are a much more effective fix. Not as good as screws of course but sufficient enough and 5 times faster

Pre drill and screws will always be a good option but if you’re looking to speed things up maybe look at roofing nailer that shoots a clout style nail, good fix less breakout

The real reason is workmanship which is few and far between nowadays. The correct way of doing the job at hand. Too many wannabes that ruin it for the rest of us is the problem look at new builds

We like to use the stainless Spax TX’s, no need for pre drilling other than the end of the boards. Expensive screws, but save pre drilling every one

predrilled also keeps splitting down to a bare minimum. screws are always better nails with decking and fencing IMO

Agree, even with a soft nose on the first fix gun it’s to vicious and second fix don’t pull the board you’re fixing in tight. Screw is best 👍 loving your work 👏
