She'd only been in the US a few months, learned every line phonetically for both this and Knock Knock the year before, and by her own admission later told The Hollywood Reporter, "I wasn't really sure what I was saying." The whole thing nearly fell apart when Todd Phillips tried to swap out a single line mid shoot. She couldn't pronounce it, couldn't follow the context, couldn't hold a basic conversation about why it changed. Phillips reportedly just told her to forget it and stick with the original. Her team put her through four months of full day English classes after that, determined not to lose the momentum. A decade later she's got an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe nod, and headlined a Bond film, in a language she was faking her way through on this exact set.
