i understand companies feeling the pressure to prioritize profit, but in our rapidly evolving world, businesses MUST adapt to consumer needs if they want to have long-term success ‼️ as Gen Z gains more purchasing power (i.e. we are entering the workforce and earning more money to spend on things), our generation is placing pressure on corporations to promote sustainability 👏🏻 we vote with our dollars, and research shows that many Gen Z adults are willing to pay higher prices to shop sustainably 🌱 that being said, sustainability does NOT just mean environmentally friendly ❌ sustainable businesses follow a Triple Bottom Line model 👀 what this means is that instead of JUST prioritizing profit, they emphasize 3 P’s: profit, planet and people 🌎 in other words, sustainable businesses focus their efforts not JUST on making money but also on improving society and reducing environmental harm ✅ if i were a @starbucks executive, i would’ve raised employee minimum wage without marking up my product prices 🤷🏼‍♀️ despite an initial decrease in profits, this decision would boost employee morale AND public perception, both of which contribute to the company’s long-term success, ESPECIALLY amongst their Gen Z consumers 😮‍💨 SIDE NOTE: even if we were to view things PURELY from a money-centered perspective, it’s also worth noting that paying employees a living wage can have positive effects on the local economy 🤷🏼‍♀️ this is because workers have more money to spend, which can lead to increased demand for goods and services 📈 ANYWAYS, what do i know? 🙃 i’m just a girl ! 😌 SOURCES/FURTHER READING 🔎 https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2022/03/generation-z-sustainability-lifestyle-buying-decisions/ https://online.hbs.edu/blog/post/what-is-the-triple-bottom-line #minimumwage #boycottstarbucks #workersrights #greenscreen
