@missclairebenjamin: 🚨 Handling a clique👇 🧠 Managing a team that are very cliquey can be very challenging especially when new starters join and you can see they’re being excluded. ▶️ Not only can this impact the team performance it can also impact the happiness and well-being of the new starters. 🚫 When it’s something you’re really concerned about it can be tempting to approach the most influential person in the group it in a very directive “telling off” kind of way. I would recommend avoiding this approach as it will cause resistance and could worsen things. I would recommend doing the following instead: 1️⃣ Ask for the advice of the most influential person in the group. 2️⃣ Try to appeal to their kind side (the majority of people have one) and help them see the situation from another angle. 3️⃣ Reinforce that you’re asking for their help not placing undue responsibility onto them. 💬 What is your experience of work cliques?
