@outsidetheturn: Posting the trot ON THE CORRECT diagonal will be a game changing if you don’t already do it!! . Riding should be intentional. And posting just to post without thinking about the footfalls isn’t intentional. We can’t instill correctness in our horses if we ourselves aren’t correct. We expect them to be intentional so we should be as well. . Correct posting means that you rise and fall with the shoulder to the wall. The trot is a two-beat gate. Which means if you are going to the left, the right front and left hind are forward at the same time. The left front and right hind are forward at the same time. . If you are posting the left diagonal correctly, you would rise, in this example, with the right shoulder. So you are up when the right shoulder is forward. You are down when the left shoulder is forward. . In order to properly pick up a lead, your horse must strike off on opposite the hind foot of the lead you’re requesting. . This means that if you are asking for the left lead, your horse must strike off on the right hind. If you are asking, for the right lead, your horse must strike off on the left hind. When we ride with intention, and time up with the feet, and understand the footfalls of the gate, our riding and our ability to communicate with our horse improves. What we want from them, will improve as a result. . Do you ride with intention? #postingtrot #ridewithintention #horsemanship #horsetrainer #barrelhorsetrainer #barrelhorsetraining #horsetraining #fypシ
