I took care of someone in a VA hospital who had been in an iron lung. He had to "frog" breath and it was a consciou effort. He used a rocking bed at night. He later ended up on a ventilator.

RIP Paul Alexander.😔 My dad’s oldest brother, my uncle, contacted Polio in the 1950’s when he was a teen. Luckily he didn’t need an iron lung, but he suffered from other problems his entire life.
