@hedgerow_healing: The Spring Equinox 🌱 The Spring Equinox has been celebrated in many pagan cultures for thousands of years. Spring was a highly important time for our ancestors as it represented the return of the land - the return of light, warmth, food and fertility. On the Equinox day and night are of equal length, and this is thought to represent the balance of masculine and feminine. The gentle hope of spring that imbolc bought us, with its baby lambs and early flowers, is now complete. We have now noticeably transitioned in to the light half of the year, and there is a sense of spring all around us. Fertility was also highly important to our ancestors, and hares became symbols for fertility - which is easy to see where this symbol of the hare in Spring became absorbed in to the Passover festival. Easternis a festival in itself, however it still has pagan undertones especially with the spring celebrations and the use of hares and eggs (symbols of fertility).
