As a former treeplanter (5 seasons). This ~may~ work for soft land cleared by a fire. But that's about it. This technology would be ineffective for 95% of land that gets treeplanted. Like cutblocks.

Pretty sure they tried this already with planes, like farmers use for fertilize fields, but the percentage of trees that actually grew was less than human planters
