In an interview with the Radio Times podcast, the “Smile” crooner shared jokingly, “I never really have a strategy when it comes to career, but yes, my children ruined my career.” She continued, “It really annoys me when people say you can have it all because, quite frankly, you can’t. Some people choose their career over their children and that’s their prerogative.” Allen shared that she chose to step back from her career to take care of her two daughters, a reaction to her own upbringing with parents she says were “quite absent.” Allen shares parents, film producer Alison Owen and actor Keith Allen, with her brother, “Game of Thrones” actor Alfie Allen. “I feel like that really left some nasty scars that I’m not willing to repeat,” Allen said. “I chose stepping back and concentrating on them, and I’m glad that I have done that because I think they’re pretty well-rounded people.” Photo: Alan Chapman/Dave Benett/Getty Images
